The original name of this beauty is Cathedral of the Resurrection. It was built between 1883 and 1907 on the spot were Emperor Aleksander II was attacked by a terrorist who threw a bomb in his carriage in March 1881. The carriege didn’t even stop and drove the Emperor to the Palace. But unfortunatelly his legs were deadly wounded and he died from blood loss.
Our Saviour on the Spilled Blood is one of the most beautiful churches not only in Saint petersburg , but also in the wolrd. It ressemble The Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow with the typical onion heads – 4 of them gilded and 5 covered by jewellery enamel.
Not only the facade is very immpressive! The interiors of the Cathedral of Resurrection is stunning .
